Royal Trek (ROY-6)

Easy walking, mountain views and village life.

This easy and enjoyable trek in the Pokhara region offers good montain views, including Machhapuchhare and Annapurna without long trekking days or long steep ascents. Ideal for those who have never tried trekking before. Despite acquiring its name after Prince Charles (with an entourage of 90!) trekked here in the 1980s this is not a particularly heavily trekked area.

Walking through numerous villages, rice fields and across terraced hills this trek provides opportunities to chat with villagers on the trails. An excellent glimpse of rural Nepalese life as well as its flora and fauna.

Where are you going?

Day 1 : Drive from Kathmandu to Begnas Tal (lake) and begin your trek with a short, hour-long walk to camp at Sundar Danda. Situated between two lakes and with views of Annapurna and the Dhulagiri range, it is a beautiful spot.

Days 2-5 : From Chisopani, highest point on the trek, the views are magnificent, especially from the small temple on a knoll above the village. The Himalayan skyline is constantly changing as the trail follows forested ridges, passing through Brahmin, Chhetri and Gurung villages before descending to Phedi for the short drive to Pokhara.

Day 6 : Return to Kathmandu by road or you may choose to fly (USD71 one way ? 35mins
